Bags of trash on a clean schoolyard

Trash Dash

In partnership with Tuesdays for Trash, we organize a monthly trash pickup event.

Our volunteers give their time to help pick up trash in our neighborhoods. Winners of games and challenges receive prizes provided by our donors. Our volunteers collect 60-80 pounds of trash each time.

Announcement

Due to new COVID-19 guidelines, our Trash Dash events are virtual until further notice. Please follow us on Instagram for the latest details. Once it is safe to organize our masked, socially-distanced, outdoor events, we will resume posting volunteer sign-up information.

Revitalizing Community Gardens

By rehabilitating community gardens, we can reduce food insecurity while improving our shared outdoor space. Professional mentors help many of our volunteers gain new skills in gardening and construction. We have started with the Community Garden at Ockley Green Middle School in North Portland.

Community Art

Sometimes after we remove trash, we leave art behind. At our first Crafty Cleanup event in September, volunteers cleaned up trash in the area, registered to vote, and stayed to create inspiring art for the garden.
